Kanu Equipment celebrated the success of a great financial year at their Annual Awards Ceremony, held on the 11th of July 2017, at the Palace of the Lost City, Sun City.

Honorary guests included; Phatisa representatives, founding members of Kanu Equipment as well as international suppliers. Guest Speaker, Mr. Howard Buttery, delivered a magnificent speech after the themed ‘Goal Diggers’ opening video was screened.

The Awards ceremony commenced with the announcement of the customary Little Bird Award nominations.  “The Little Bird Award is my favourite award. It celebrates the staff member of the year, recognised for their alignment with the core values of Kanu Equipment; Courage, Determination and Persistence”, said Stephen Smithyman (Group CEO),

The country candidates were measured against a set list of criteria* to conclude the following final list of nominees:

14. Nancy Cheekoussen (Mauritius)
15. Apajee Oudorao (Ivory Coast)
16. Richard Bentil (Ghana)

Managing Directors from all 11 active countries were present to accept trophies on behalf of their nominees. The overall winner of the Little Bird Award, Mr Apajee Oudorao was announced with great cheer as the MD of Ivory Coast, Mr Francois Bigara, proudly accepted his award.

Additional Awards acknowledged the countries that were outstanding both in terms of performance, system adherence and market development. The nominations and winners in this category for 2017 are as follows:

2. Maintenance Support Dealer of the Year

3. Equipment Sales Dealer of the Year

Nominees: Ghana, Botswana, Liberia, Ivory Coast
Winner: Liberia

4. Rental Dealer of the Year

Nominees: Liberia, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe
Winner: Sierra Leone

5. Deal of the Year

Nominations: Guinea Project WBHO (Mauritius), R9350 Excavator (Botswana), MTTP PROJECT (Botswana)
Winner: Botswana

6. Dealership of the Year

Nominees: Ghana, Botswana, Liberia
Winner: Ghana

Furthermore, Bell & Liebherr showed their support to the Kanu Equipment team by handing over the following awards;

3. Successful market introduction of R924: Ghana
